Now since IJN has second line and with it there will be Shiratsuyu-class destroyer… that means the Yudachi will be in the game and with her expect much more Poi. Even if you didn’t know what Poi was, it was just a joke and it was huge. Games started with Poi spam, just for fun. (You can see from her introduction line that she wasn't so sure of her battle result in Guadalcanal either.)Īs you can see even that dumb Poi is connected with the history.ĭuring CBT as significant amount of players that came to this game also liked the animation… for quite a while Poi was working as sort of greeting. Since her battle records were unclear and involved a lot of guess work from naval historians from both sides after the war, the game version of Yuudachi landed with the "poi" catchphrase just to reflect that little piece of history. Even though Yuudachi did wreak havoc in the battle, there are other ships who also claimed the kills. It was technically a huge mess during the fight and no one actually knew what was happening. The main reason behind Yuudachi's speech pattern is because no one actually had a clear record of what she actually accomplished in the Guadalcanal Campaign. ~poi in Japanese means "maybe", "perhaps" or "seems like", it's something you throw in the end of the sentence if you aren't too sure of the result and end up concluding the sentence by guessing. Googling Poi if you are Dutch is pretty useless, since it's a juggling term here, appearantly.Įdit: And in English too. And I like having a free Atago, even without camo or premium benefits, or to have a free Myoko to keep in my port, allowing me to sell the real one and keep a port slot for other things.Įdit: More fun. That being said, I prefer Nachi's or Kirishima's voice over that darn Brit. It has certainly something to do with culture (not with fetishes - because I think fetishes are fairly evenly spread across all cultures - so if it were, we would see much more anime made in other parts of the world as well). I find it far more interesting why most anime orginates from Japan. Just look at Japan (where most anime orginates). Funnily, I've never been reported for that, so using chat for trash talk is very well possible in this game. I generally join in with random stuff as well - rarely "Poi" but there are times I'm in a silly mood and spout random (harmless) garbage in the chat. Jokes aside - like others, I rather see "poi" and other random stuff in chat than people being Something that children use to greet each other in their native language. I always assumed it to be similar to and such, as a result. I always assumed "Poi" means "Hello" in an Asian country, but don't ask me which one. Now even some of the respected reviewers are sprouting this guff.Īm I just a grumpy man?. The ships are bad enough but at least you can opt out of the port. What on earth is all this Japenese ARP nonsense and now 'Poi' shouted everywhere?
